I fear that the blog will cause people to move into the murky realm of political discussion, despite this being an issue that has arisen due to an incident within a sport (and being potentially relevant to hockey).
The one thing that I will say is that a lot of the folk I've seen lambasting Kaepernick for his decision are the same who have invoked the right to freedom of expression for views that are perhaps not the most inclusive.

"This [racist slur] should stand and hono(u)r those who gave their lives for their country, what a [expletive]!"

i think the only thing i am going to say is.. although i disagree with his method and maybe not the full message.. it is because of the sacrifices that people in our military have made that allow him to make this stance. although his free speech may be protected, so is the free speech of the people providing the backlash.
